Precipitation Sensors

WS100 Radar Precipitation Sensor/Smart Disdrometer

The Lufft WS100 is our maintenance-free radar precipitation sensor. It recognizes the type and amount of precipitation from the first drop. The sensor is suitable for hard-to-reach places.

Parameters Measured: Rain/precipitation quantity, rain/precipitation type (Rain, snow, sleet, freezing rain, hail)

Measurement Technology: 24GHz Doppler radar

Product Highlights: Very fast response time, maintenance-free measurement, present weather detection

Interfaces: RS-485 semi-duplex two-wire, SDI-12, pulse interface/UMB protocol, Modbus

Rain Gauge WTB100

Tipping bucket rain gauge with bounce-free reed contact.

Parameters Measured:
Rain/precipitation quantity

Measurement Technology: Tipping bucket with bounce-free reed contact (normally closed)

Product Highlights: Resolution can be switched from 0.2 to 0.5 with reduction ring, connectable to any WS-sensor without precipitation measurement

Interfaces: Impulse output (reed contact)

Radar Precipitation Sensor R2S-UMB

The radar precipitation sensor Lufft R2S-UMB allows fast measurement of precipitation intensity and distinguishs between precipitation type (Rain, snow, sleet, freezing rain, hail). The operation is maintenance-free, thanks to radar measurement technology.

Parameters Measured:
Rain/precipitation quantity, rain/precipitation type (Rain, snow, sleet, freezing rain, hail)

Measurement Technology: 24GHz Doppler radar

Product Highlights: Very fast response time, maintenance-free measurement, present weather detection

Interfaces: RS-485, various RS-485-protocols, analogue output

OTT WAD 200 - Weighing Rain Gauge

The OTT WAD 200, a weighing technology combined with a self-emptying weighing rain sensor, was developed in addition to the OTT Pluvio² series and is specially designed for the use in subtropical and tropical climates.

Parameters Measured: Percipitation intensity and amount in real-time from 0.001 to 720 mm/h

Measurement Technology: Weighing principle with Tipping Bucket

Product Highlights: Continuous and consistent rain monitoring technology with cumulative data output according WMO guide line No 8

Interfaces: SDI-12/RS-485, pulse, analog output

OTT Parsivel² - Laser Weather Sensor

The OTT Parsivel² is a modern laser disdrometer for comprehensive measurement of all precipitation types. The Parsivel² captures both the size and speed of falling particles, classifying them into one of 32 separate size and velocity classes.

Parameters Measured: Precipitation type, intensity, drop size distribution, radar reflectivity

Measurement Technology: Laser (optical)

Product Highlights: Simultaneous measurement of 32 classes for particle sizes and velocities

Interfaces: SDI-12/RS-485, pulse

OTT Pluvio² L - Weighing Rain Gauge

The OTT Pluvio² L is an all-weather precipitation gauge that uses superior weight-based technology to measure the amount and intensity of rain, snow, and hail.

Parameters Measured: Cumulative precipitation, precipitation intensity, bucket content in real time and non real time

Measurement Technology: 12

Product Highlights: All-weather precipitation gauge without moving parts according to WMO guide line No. 8

Interfaces: SDI-12/RS-485, pulse

OTT Pluvio² S

The OTT Pluvio² S compact weighing precipitation gauge measures liquid, solid and mixed precipitation with remarkable precision. It is virtually maintenance-free and fits on 2-inch pedestals.

Parameters Measured: Cumulative precipitation, precipitation intensity, bucket content in real time and non real time

Measurement Technology: Weighing principle

Product Highlights: Compact all-weather precipitation gauge for 2-inch pedestals, highly accurate, meets WMO requirements (Guidelines No. 8), nearly maintenance-free, lifetime calibrated

Interfaces: SDI-12, RS-485, impulse, status

3/13/20

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread in the United States and across the globe, we want to let everyone know that Communications Electronics’number one priority is to keep our employees, partners, and customers safe. Here is an update on preparations and steps we have taken to date. Two weeks ago, CE assembled a cross-disciplinary COVID-19 Management Team to actively monitor the situation and make recommendations to leadership. We have been assessing the situation daily, remaining vigilant, and following recommendations from the World Health Organization (WHO), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and local authorities. We’ve assembled guidance for our employee teams, pursuant to these recommendations.

As you know, the situation is evolving rapidly, and COVID-19 is affecting people differently, depending on their location and situation. As a result, flexible solutions are needed. CE Senior Management is considering all options, including the possibility of asking staff to work remotely.

While we remain focused on the health and safety of our staff and those around us, we also remain committed to serving our customers. Fortunately, we have technology in place and significant experience with working remotely. We have been working hard behind the scenes to ensure we can continue to deliver uninterrupted, high quality service. Operational teams have been working to identify potential needs and strategies associated with full-virtual delivery of services. Project managers and supervisors are actively having preparedness discussions with our teams. Our IT team has been reviewing and testing systems and protocols, to ensure necessary tools and support for staff to operate virtually. Everyone has a role to play.

If you have questions or feedback, you can reach the COVID-19 Management Team at Safety@Talkcei.com.

Being flexible and able to overcome big challenges is part of what makes us who we are. We have the infrastructure, skills, and desire to support each other, while providing the highest level of service to our customers. Obviously, this is a fast moving, fluid situation affecting our country and the world. We will update our guidance and decisions as the situation changes. Please continue to monitor the CDC Website for updates.

We hope that you and your family are well,
